Kusanone no Kuni

The oldest of the five great shinobi nations, though Kusanone no Kuni happens to be the third largest of the five nations. Kusanone no Kuni has within it the largest of the five villages, Uekigakure, or the Village Hidden in the Trees. Almost all of this massive nation is wilderness and woods, though within the central circles of the country is a rather large village hidden entirely massive trees. The shinobi of this village are said to have indomitable wills and unstoppable fighting stamina.

Mikon no Kuni

The second largest country in the Shinobi World and home to Chirigakure, or The Village Hidden in the Dust. The premier shinobi village hidden inside the land of Wilds is the second largest in terms of overall mass, and is in appearance a large clustered mass of houses created entirely out of chakra-laden dust each of which has the same molecular fortitude of a typical brick built house. The shinobi here are usually not very war-like, preferring to keep entirely to themselves except for a long-lived alliance with the land of grass roots. They are the most hardy of shinobi, being amazingly endurant despite living in such harsh conditions.

Taka no Kuni

Take no Kuni, the land of heights. While the nation is the smallest in terms of landmass, and secondly smallest in terms of shinobi population they are still highly feared for their military might and intense power. They are entirely ruthless and once provoked, however tiny the provocation may be, they always intend on full destruction of their target. They are the most war-like of all the nations, and have fought against almost every known nation, wiping some from the map entirely. Upon the highest hill sits a massive staircase, guarded night and day, which leads far down into the mountain itself. This is, in fact, Okagakure: The Village Hidden in the Hill.

Akahoshi no Kuni

Akahoshi no Kuni is the land of Red Tides, a large expanse of numerous small islands which form something of a nation in itself. The village itself is within an island within the central reservation. There are many small above-ground islands of a house or two each of which houses a specific purpose, a storehouse, ANBU facility, hospitals and such like, yet the main Village of Numagakure, the village hidden in the lake is literally hidden within the main circular reservation deeper south of the smaller islands, a small village on the low sea bed only about fifty or sixty feet down, the tip of the Kage mansion poking out above the waves. The villagers breath through a special jutsu which provides a large bubble around the village.

Kenkon no Kuni

Kenkon no Kuni is the Land of Heaven and Earth, a deep jungle with truly gigantic mountain hidden within the middle of it. The first indication of human settlements is the fact that a great stone staircase lifts up through the entire mountain. This mountain rises up above the thick clouds and atop the highest peaks stands a large village surrounded by bright lights, thick clouds and thicker fogs. The dark-skinned females of this village are said to be gorgeous and most have beautiful singing voices, where as the men are extremely talented at close-ranged attacks such as Kenjutsu and Taijutsu.

Hara no Kuni

Hara no Kuni, the the Land of Tundra. A bitterly cold nation on the southernmost tip of the massive continent that houses most of the other nations. This particular nation is perhaps the coldest in the entire world, with temperatures regularly reaching into the minuses. The people here are bitterly cold themselves, war is their mistress and honor is what guides them; Suicide and disease are not acceptable forms of death, only a warriors death is allowed for them. Inside Hara no Kuni is lays Hyougagakure: The Village Hidden in the Glaciers, an expansive cluster of massive glaciers upon which the village sits, connected by tender rope bridges and cut into the form of oddly warm abodes. While technically not a member of the Five Great Nations, Hyougagakure does actually have a Kage, and thus despite it only having been created a year or so ago, is already a disliked village.
